Upon signing of the project contract on April 19, 2012 the project „Improvement of product safety and quality for the Thai fruit juice industry was started. Project partners are the German Society for International Co-operation (GIZ) and SGF.
National control authorities can use the results of the project to develop and implement statutory and industrial standards in order to generate national food safety control systems and thus contribute to the enhancement of the sanitary consumer protection – also for other industries.
The project will run over a period of 3 years.
Selected Thai suppliers are supposed to be admitted to the Voluntary Control System (VCS) of SGF. Companies producing fruit juice drinks for the local market will be united in a national control system according to the model of the SGF/IQCS (International Quality Control System). A pool of auditors, laboratories and control bodies will be established which will enhance the portfolio of services in the area of food safety.
