IRMA is responsible for checking the raw material markets as well as fruit processors, blending stations, traders, brokers, warehouses, coldstores and transport companies participating in the VCS, in more than 56 countries throughout the world.

IRMA member companies are audited regularly once or twice a year or even more often if required; the audits are carried out by staff or external independent inspectors. Only certified IRMA suppliers may use the IRMA logo for promotion.

Together with authenticity controls, IRMA also performs additional controls as protection from potential hygiene risks. Here the routine basic controls are repeated every 3 years. The regular IRMA plant inspections include the necessary post-controls relating to additional requirements and post-controls relating to additional quality assurance measures.
